555 Directory

My personal version of the 555-List which I see has actually been updated recently (relatively speaking). I once started keeping my own list of these before I realized there was a much more comprehensive website. Well... for now, I'll keep my own personal list... and maybe keep updating it!

The bonuses of mine are that the table is sortable/filterable/searchable all within this one page. Also, I try to include more details (like an episode name or context), and all my numbers are just numbers. If the original show had something like 'KL5-TAXI', my entry would just be 8294, with the details showing 'KL5-TAXI', so you could see it along with any similar numbers. Since this was becoming a bear to maintain, I took my l33t programming skillz and created an SQL database for it. It's much easier to edit data. I'm even thinking of putting an online-sibmission form up here (again, only for my own use; at least until I get some buy-in from the other 555-list owners out there!)

Benwords - Things I Make Up

Benwords make me do very lousily in Scrabble (that's a trademark by the way).  Benwords make me look dumb on English papers.  But someday, maybe Merriam will call me up and say "Hey, Ben?  We think you're pretty smart, and we'd like to add your words to our dictionary.  Here's $5,000,000."   Then again, maybe not.

Approvation - I was trying to talk about the Apple app approval process, and couldn't come up with the right word. This way makes it sound even more sinister (which seems appropriate) - 11/20/2009

Backgrounding - The process of converting a bit of code to run in the background, so it doesn't take up so much time in the user process. Not to be confused with beef backgrounding.

Colorizationingability - I wrote this in 2006 in a CDA stylesheet, mostly because I have a habit of adding too many suffixes to words. But I really like this one, and I have the source-code to prove that I invented it around 2006.

Dreadfulity - Making the adjective into a noun. I seem to do this a lot. 5/19/2011

Freecell Games I've Won

This is an ancient file from 1998. I had started a list of each freestyle game I had won, with the crazy ambition of winning them all at some point. Then I realized how many different games there were... Maybe when I retire... (You know... we always joked about keeping a list of things my dad said he'd do when he retired. Maybe I should start doing the same thing. And this would be the perfect place for it!)

(June, 2009) - So... interesting. The original FreeCell had 32000 games, and big web rings have already played all of them except 11982. I guess I have a lot of catching up to do. Especially since there are now one million in Windows, and over 8 billion using high seed numbers.
